Baxter Memorial Library, while open to all, is not a fully-funded municipal library. Each year, more than a third of the library’s operating budget, including books and programs, must be raised through our Annual Appeal letter, our Plant, Book & Bake Sale, our Cookie Walk, and our other special fundraisers. There are so many ways you can support your library! If you have questions or ideas you don’t see here, just drop us a line or call us at (802) 763-2875. We’re always happy to chat!

Donate Materials
Donated items are reviewed, and a small percentage of donations are added to the library’s circulating collection. The majority of donated materials are sold in book sales or offered free to community members. Donating used books and media is a wonderful way to support the Library. (Note: Please do not leave book donations at the library when it is closed. Instead, send us a list of titles ahead of time, or bring in your items during open hours.) Wine or liquor boxes are ideal for packing books: sturdy and not too large or heavy to lift.
Accepted: Books, Audiobooks on CD, DVDs, games and puzzles in good condition
Not accepted: Encyclopedias, textbooks, out-of-date manuals, magazines, music CDs, VHS tapes, cassettes, material in poor condition (moldy, torn, water damaged, out-of-date, etc.).

Donate a Museum Pass
Each year, the library purchases passes to area museums such as VINS and Billings Farm. Unfortunately, these passes can be rather expensive for a small library. If you’d like to donate a reuseable museum pass, please contact us at sharonbaxterlibrary@gmail.com.
___
Donate a Gift Card or Other Prize
Library programs are always more fun with prizes! Of course, for a public library with a tight budget, good prizes aren’t always easy to come by. Maybe you can help! Email sharonbaxterlibrary@gmail.com.
___
Adopt an Author
Are you always first in line to purchase each new book by your favorite author? Why not donate them to the library when you finish? Adopt an Author ensures that new titles of popular authors will be in the library’s collection and frees up space in the our budget to purchase more books for our patrons! Interested? Send us an email at sharonbaxterlibrary@gmail.com.
___
Donate from Our Wish List
Want to donate materials we’ll be sure to add to the collection? Check out our wish list! (Note: If purchasing books, hardcovers are much preferred because of durability.)
