Eileen Lanza has once again generously donated a fantastic, colorful quilt for the library’s fourth annual quilt raffle! This year, she chose a very special pattern. The Clay’s Choice patchwork block honors Henry Clay (1777-1852), a staunch abolitionist well known for his multiple attempts at the presidency prior to the Civil War. Urged by many to moderate his stance against slavery in order to win votes, he said, “I’d rather be right than be president.” Want a chance to win this special quilt for your very own? Tickets will be available at the upcoming Plant, Book and Bake Sale on June 3, other library fundraisers throughout the year, at various town events, and (of course) inside the library where you can stop by and see it any time. Tickets are $1 each or 6 for $5. The drawing will be held at the annual Cookie Walk in December. Good luck!
