With Libby, you can check out ebooks and digital audiobooks straight to your phone, tablet, Kindle, or computer. You can use Overdrive on your computer, or you can download Overdrive’s Libby app (available for both Apple and Android) to your phone or tablet.
To sign in on the Libby app:
1. Tell Libby you have a library card
2. Search for Baxter using zip code 05065
3. Enter your full library card number
4. Enter your password (this is the same password you use to access our catalog). If you’re unsure, try the default password “userpass.” Then, be sure to log into our catalog where you’ll be prompted to change it to your own password. Now when you log into Libby, you’ll enter your own password.
To sign in on the Overdrive website:
1. Click the “Sign In” button
2. Choose Baxter Memorial Library from the drop-down list
3. Enter your full library card number (email or call the library if you don’t know it)
4. Enter your password (this is the same password you use to access our catalog). If you’re unsure, try the default password “userpass.” Then, be sure to log into our catalog where you’ll be prompted to change it to your own password. Now when you log into Libby/Overdrive, you’ll enter your own password.
Note: Libby saves your reading history by default. You can turn it off by following these instructions.

Biblio+ is a free, ad-free streaming service that partners with public libraries to offer unlimited access to a curated collection of independent films, documentaries, and television series. You can use your library account number to sign up and stream content on a wide variety of devices, including computers, smartphones, tablets, and smart TVs. The service provides immediate, unlimited access to titles, so there are no waiting lists or holds.

Baxter Memorial Library is pleased to offer The Palace Project, another option for accessing e-books and audiobooks. The Palace app, for use on mobile devices, doesn’t replace the Libby app, but it provides access to all of the content available through the Libby app, as well as additional content from the Palace Marketplace and the Palace Bookshelf. To use The Palace Project, download The Palace Project app available for both Apple and Android) to your phone or tablet. (Palace is currently not available on Kindle, PC, Linux, or other devices.)

2. Select the settings icon in the lower-right hand corner of the screen

Gale Presents: Peterson’s Test and Career Prep is an online learning resource that offers a central hub for standardized test prep, college planning, career assessment, job searches, and more.
Test prep resources help users prepare for a variety of standardized exams, including college entry exams like the SAT and ACT, and vocational exams in industries like law enforcement, journeyman, cosmetology, as well as U.S. citizenship. Students can find college planning tools, including a school search and a scholarship search. Job seekers can take advantage of career exploration tools including career assessments, advice, help creating resumés and cover letters, and a job search engine. Plus, learners can find additional materials to brush up on foundational skills in math and science, reading and writing, and computer technology to support their future endeavors.

Gale Presents: Udemy offers thousands of on-demand video courses taught by world-class instructors across 75 categories for upskilling in the areas of business, technology, and design, as well as courses on health and well-being, the arts, and language learning. Courses are replaced monthly with new material addressing emerging topics. On-demand videos in eight different languages taught by native-speaking instructors are also included.

Vermont Online Library (VOL) covers everything from newspaper articles to DIY car repair and can help with most any topic. Available for free to all Vermonters, VOL has options for all ages from elementary school through adult. You can even use it to read current articles from the NY Times, Washington Post, the Economist, and more.

- Check the name of the library in the purple bar at the top of the page. If it doesn’t say Baxter Memorial Library ,click “Change Library” on the right side of the purple bar.
- Choose “Baxter Memorial Library” from the dropdown list. That may be all you need to do, but if it prompts you, enter your library card number: 2000xxxx (replace the x’s with your own four-digit number; if you don’t know it, just email us).

Vermonters now have access to GetSetUp, the largest online community for older adults to learn, share and socialize. GetSetUp has over 500 online classes and events offered each week that will give you a safe, fun and welcoming way to interact with your peers and discover new passions and purposes. Take classes around the clock and from around the world on everything from technology, health and fitness, photography, travel, and cooking, as well as interest-based social groups led by our own community members. Classes are taught by older adults and kept small to ensure everyone can actively participate. You don’t need to have a library card to participate; GetSetUp is open to all Vermonters.

Senior Planet – This is an incredible resource for people over the age of 60. Senior Planet offers technology-related resources to older adults for free. If you have a technology problem, you can contact them for free tech help M-F, 9-5 at (920) 666-1959. They also offer free, live online events that aren’t strictly technology-related (though most are). Here are several examples of their online offerings: Getting Started on Instagram (or Facebook or Zoom or…), Smartphone Photography, Protecting Your Personal Information Online, Mobile Health Apps, Online Tools for Contacting Your Lawmakers, and even Chair Yoga and Fit Fusion Workout!

Internet Archive is a non-profit digital library offering free universal access to books, movies & music, as well as 418 billion archived web pages.

Project Gutenberg offers over 60,000 public domain ebooks for free use on any device. Because they are public domain, they are typically limited to items published before 1924, but that still includes a wide range of classics.
